Third Graders Surprise with New Bicycles Today

Staff Report / apexlocal.org

Today at Walnut Creek Elementary School in Apex, North Carolina, each third-grade student received a brand new bicycle, courtesy of a collaboration between the Triangle Spokes Group and Bikes4Kids. The event surprised the students during a special assembly, where they learned the good news along with receiving a helmet.

To qualify for the bikes, the students wrote essays on the theme "Thinking Big, Working Hard and Making No Excuses." The top three essay writers were originally set to win bikes, but all third graders ended up being gifted the bicycles. The school expressed gratitude towards the community partners for their support in making this event possible.
