**Wake County Public Libraries Achieve Sensory Inclusive Certification in 2024**
In a significant achievement, Wake County Public Libraries (WCPL) has become the first library system in North Carolina to earn Sensory Inclusive certification. This recognition comes through a partnership with KultureCity®, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating inclusive experiences and environments for individuals with sensory needs.
The Sensory Inclusive certification means that WCPL is now equipped to better assist and accommodate visitors who may experience sensory sensitivities. This includes individuals with autism, PTSD, anxiety, or other sensory-related conditions. Through this partnership, staff members at WCPL have received specialized training, and tools like sensory kits are now available to create a more welcoming space for all guests.
This milestone, celebrated as one of the highlights of 2024, underscores the library system's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for the community.
