**Young Artists Shine in "Wetlands are Wonderful" Contest**
RALEIGH, NC – The Wake Soil & Water Conservation District recently held its annual “Wetlands are Wonderful” Conservation Poster Contest, inviting elementary school students from across Wake County to showcase their artistic talents and environmental knowledge. The event was a resounding success, with creative entries highlighting the importance of wetlands in the ecosystem.
In the 3rd-grade category, Ashleigh Wuchter from Adams Elementary secured 1st place. She was awarded a check for $50, recognizing her outstanding achievement. Her poster, along with those of other top winners, will advance to the regional competition.
In other grade levels, Deetya Parimi from Highcroft Drive Elementary won 1st place for the 4th-grade category, and Asher Deepak from Green Hope Elementary won 1st place in the 5th-grade category.
This contest, held annually, aims to educate and inspire young minds about wetlands and their crucial role in the environment. Wetlands support diverse forms of life, providing homes for many plants and animals. The initiative allows students to creatively express what they’ve learned about these unique ecosystems.
The winning posters will head to the regional level, where students have a chance to earn additional prizes and further showcase their conservation messages. Congratulations to all participants and winners for their dedication to environmental awareness and creativity!
