APSF Shoutout Celebrates Apex High School Educators

Staff Report / apexlocal.org

This week's APSF Shoutout recognizes two educators from Apex High School: Health Occupations Teacher Quiwanna Britton and Behavioral Teacher Damon Jones.

Quiwanna Britton joined the Career and Technical Education (CTE) department in 2023. She has significantly increased the membership of the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) club and encourages students from diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in the medical field. Last summer, she organized an engaging summer camp for students, which included a visit to her chiropractor. Ms. Britton also collaborated with the Community Engagement Professional Learning Community to assist with a community mental health fair.

Damon Jones is known for his passion for education and his ability to build strong relationships with his students, which helps him assist them during difficult times. His classroom provides a calming environment that allows students to focus on their work. Mr. Jones also attends after-school events to support the Apex High School Cougars and has used his personal funds to enhance classroom resources and activities.

The APSF Shoutout celebration is supported by FRESH Local Ice Cream, McDonald's of Apex, and Harnett County, alongside the Wake County Public School System and the Town of Apex Government.
