**City of Sarasota Advises Residents on Storm Debris Collection Guidelines**

As storm debris collection efforts are increasing, the City of Sarasota has issued guidelines for residents on how to prepare debris piles.

Residents are encouraged to separate storm debris into specific categories:

- **Construction debris**: This includes carpeting, drywall, and other materials impacted by flooding.

- **White goods**: Appliances such as refrigerators, ranges, washing machines, dryers, air conditioning units, and water heaters should be set out for collection.

- **Bulk items**: Furniture, mattresses, and other large household items affected by flood water should be placed for pickup.

- **Vegetative debris**: This includes downed tree branches, limbs, and other yard waste.

Residents are reminded to place storm debris at least 6 feet away from any obstructions and to avoid putting debris in plastic bags.

Additionally, regular garbage and yard waste pickup has resumed. During the storm debris collection period, yard waste should be included with vegetative debris piles.

For more information and updates, residents can follow the City of Sarasota on social media or visit Sarasotafl.gov/Alerts.
