**Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service in Atlanta**

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day will be observed on Monday, January 20, 2025. This annual federal holiday commemorates the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., a leader in the civil rights movement. Atlanta, Georgia, home to the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historical Park and Preservation District, will offer free admission to the park on this day.

The holiday has been officially recognized as a "day of service" since 1994. This was initiated through an effort led by the late Congressman John Lewis, a lifelong advocate for civil rights and representative of Georgia. The day encourages Americans to engage in community service as a tribute to Dr. King's life and legacy.
