Wake County Launches 2025-26 School Year

Wake County Public Schools in Apex, North Carolina, welcomed students and families back for the start of the 2025-26 school year. Campus visits today included interactions among students, staff, and families as they began classes. The first day of school at Pleasant Plains Elementary was also held, marking the school's inaugural day of operation. Apex, N.C.—Police responding to reports of vehicle break-ins at Beaver Creek Crossings initiated a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle; the driver failed to yield and collided with another vehicle, two suspects—ages 33 and 26 from Norfolk, Virginia—were taken into custody on multiple felony charges and will be transported to Wake County Jail, a third suspect remained outstanding, and the other driver was hospitalized with serious but non-life-threatening injuries as investigators continue their work.
