On October 16, the Special Collections department at the Jacksonville Public Library is participating in "Ask An Archivist Day," an annual event where archivists worldwide answer questions from the public about archives.

Archivists play a key role in preserving and providing access to historical documents and materials. They can help individuals understand how to donate items, such as Duval County yearbooks or personal archives, to their collections. Additionally, the library offers guidance on digitizing family photos and audiovisual materials, as well as tips on preserving personal collections at home.

Visitors are encouraged to ask questions about various topics, such as how to ensure that emails are not lost, the importance of archives, and inquiries about specific items in the library's collection. The public can engage in this event by commenting with their questions or visiting the library's Fourth Floor.
