Atlanta PAL Combats Gun Violence with Boxing Workshop

The Atlanta Police Department's Athletic League (PAL) collaborated with "Project Safe Neighborhood" to hold the Gloves Not Guns workshop this past summer. The initiative was designed for young individuals on felony probation for serious offenses like gun possession, auto theft, aggravated assault, and bringing guns to school. The 10-week camp was supported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Fulton County Juvenile Court, and the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Active PAL officers and coaches led the program, focusing on promoting positive life choices among participants.
During the workshop, the teens engaged in strength training before breaking into smaller groups for boxing fundamentals. Each individual had the chance to step into the ring and participate in light sparring matches. The event aimed to encourage the youth to pack a punch through boxing, not with guns. The Atlanta Police Athletic League (PAL) was praised for its continuous efforts to inspire and uplift the younger generation.
